Dr. Laura Kane

I am an Associate Professor of Fashion Design at Framingham State University in Framingham, MA. I earned my Ph.D in Design and the Near Environment from Oregon State University in 2017 with a dissertation titled "Why Cosplay? Motivations behind participation and use of social media among cosplayers who maintain Facebook Artist pages." 

My creative scholarship and research has been showcased at the International Textiles and Apparel Association's conferences, Costume Society of America's annual conferences, and the Design Principles and Practices conference.

2023 ITAA Award for Innovative Design Scholarship-Professional for “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with Dr. Jessica Ridgeway.

1st Place for Innovative Design-Dancing Seafoam: A Tribute to the Oregon Coast-ITAA 2016

2010 Selected by Fashion Group International of Boston as one of the Top 5 emerging designers. Presented collection at Boston Fashion Week as part of the Launch.

Winner of 2009 Natick Collections "Form to Fashion" event representing Framingham State College.

Recipient of 2009 Outstanding Senior Award for Fashion Design concentration at Framingham State University.
