"Chrysler" Dress/Cardinal

This gown was created for a photoshoot with photographer Brian DeMello. He called me and asked if I would like to shoot on the balcony of the Chrysler Building in NYC. "Um. YES!" I had about 5 days to put the dress together. The biggest influence in the design is the wind. We wanted the dress to move, and move it did!!

Construction

The dress is 8 yards of red silk charmeuse. It has hand pleating in the front and back, a center front slit, and shorter sides. It was entirely draped on a dressform. It has a short boned taffeta bodice lining and an invisible zipper up the back. Finally, there is a very long waist tie and a halter strap.
