Flamingo

The one thing I didn't want to do with the "bird" line is to go literal. I certainly was not going to do a Flamingo dress with a big poofy butt of feathers. However, I couldn't resist putting feathers somewhere. I wanted to do a mermaid dress with smaller godets in the front and larger ones in back for a dramatic silhouette, and I also wanted a lettuce hem. I ended up with a jersey fabric that I just love. Wearing the dress feels like wearing your favorite T-shirt!

Construction

The dress is made of cotton jersey knit with a boned chambray lining. The hem is lettuce edged. Custom shaped feathers embellish the center front of the bodice and a rhinestone brooch is pinned at the center. The dress zips up the back with an invisible zipper.
