Penny from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog

When I watched Dr. Horrible for the first time, I instantly became hooked. I had the songs stuck in my head for weeks! My husband looks a lot like Neil Patrick Harris, so it was destined that we cosplay the pair. I choose this costume for Penny because it was cute, and didn’t involve creating a specific print. Luckily the costume coincided with a textile embellishment project in one of my classes, so I decided to make the sweater.

Construction

I purchased a beige colored sweater at my local thrift store, and hand embroidered the designs onto it. I’m very happy with the way it came out! I also hand drafted and made the shirt out of cotton gauze. The rest of the outfit was pretty easy and mostly consisted of stuff I already had.
