Purple Prom Dress

This gown was a commission through Celtic Dragon Dress Designs. The dress was inspired by Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. I love the color the client requested, and we had the perfect embroidered lace for the inset! The sashing design was from CDDD intern Maxime Gelfond!

Construction

Bodice

The outer layer of the bodice is silk dupioni underlined in horse hair canvas. All the seams were hand catch stitched flat. The lace inset has a layer of the silk organza from the skirt under it to make the color pop. The inner layer of the bodice is also silk, interfaced, and has boning at every seam. The bodice laces up the back with corset loops made from the silk. The sashing was made from the silk organza and was hand stitched down. The waist sashing ties in the back and is fastened with a big rhinestone brooch. Finally, each seam has rows of hand sewn pearl beads. The sleeves are made of silk and attach to the bodice via snaps fitted under the sashing. This allowed the client to remove them easily for dancing!

Skirt

The skirt is a silk organza with a hand sewn hem. It's overlayed over a grey polyester lining. The skirt has an invisible zipper up the back and a straight waistband.
